Privacy policy
Routa is built to collect nothing that identifies you. Your training and health data stays on your iPhone, and we run no servers that store it. This policy explains what that means, and the few outside services that ever receive any data.
Who we are
Routa is made by Routa Labs, a company registered in Finland. For any privacy question, email [email protected].
Our principle
We collect the bare minimum, and nothing that identifies you. There is no account and no login. Everything Routa needs to plan your training is created and held on your device, with sensitive values kept in the iOS keychain. Delete the app and that data goes with it. Nothing leaves your device except through a few optional features — the crash reports and analytics below (on by default, switch off anytime), syncing with Intervals.icu, and managing a subscription — each covered in its own section below.
What stays on your device
Stored only on your iPhone and never sent to us: your FTP and preferences, your workouts, plans and results, the Apple Health data Routa reads, the GPS route and location from outdoor rides, and the Bluetooth data from your smart trainer, power meter, and heart rate monitor.
Apple Health
With your permission, Routa reads heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and sleep from Apple Health to judge your daily readiness, and reads workouts recorded by other apps and devices — an Apple Watch or a Garmin, say — so they count toward your training load. If you turn it on, Routa also saves rides you record in the app back to Apple Health. All of this stays on your device: reading and writing happen between Routa and the Health app on your iPhone, the data is processed there and never leaves it, and we never use it for advertising or marketing. You can change or revoke access at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy and Security, then Health.
Intervals.icu
Linking an Intervals.icu account is optional. If you link it, Routa syncs workouts and training data with Intervals.icu so your calendar and history stay in step. That data is then held by Intervals.icu under their privacy policy, not ours. You control what syncs and can unlink at any time.
Subscriptions
Routa Pro is sold through Apple's in-app purchase, so Apple handles all payment details and we never see your card. To manage subscriptions we use RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives your purchase history, a random identifier generated for your device, and basic device information such as model, operating system version, and country. It does not receive your name or email, and we cannot identify you from it. See Apple's privacy policy and RevenueCat's privacy policy for how they handle this data.
Crash reports and analytics
Both of these are optional and on by default. You can switch either off anytime in Settings under Privacy. Each has its own switch.
Neither ever carries anything that could identify you — no name, no email, no account, and not even your IP address. Analytics is tied only to a random identifier that is never linked to who you are; crash reports carry no identifier at all.
Crash reports — while this is on, Routa sends technical crash and error reports (what went wrong, your device model and iOS version) so we can fix bugs. We use Sentry for this, stored on servers in the European Union. These reports never include your name, your training data, or anything from Apple Health.
Usage analytics — while this is on, Routa sends anonymous counts of in-app actions (for example, that a workout was started), plus a few non-identifying details: which version of Routa you're running and your device's operating-system version (such as iOS 17.4), whether you subscribe to Routa Pro, whether you've linked Intervals.icu, a broad band of your weekly training time, and a broad band of how long you've used Routa. Each signal also carries a random session identifier — renewed every time you open the app — so we can count sessions. We use TelemetryDeck, which is built to hold no personal data — it sees only random identifiers for your device and session, never your name, email, Intervals.icu login, or any health value.
Children
Routa is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights
Your training and health data lives on your device, so you control it directly: view it in the app, and delete it by removing the app. For the limited subscription data held by Apple and RevenueCat, contact [email protected] and we will help you exercise your rights under the GDPR and other applicable law, including access and deletion. Crash reports and analytics run only to fix bugs and improve Routa; you can switch either off anytime in Settings under Privacy, which stops all data from that switch.
Changes
We may update this policy as Routa changes. For small clarifications, the date at the top marks the current version. If we ever make a material change — especially anything that would collect more data or change what is shared — we'll tell you inside the app before it takes effect. And you can switch crash reports or analytics off at any time in Settings under Privacy.
